The Crucible at the Old Vic

We usually only manage a couple of London theatre trips a year -
and so far in 2014 we'd seen the rather good Michael Grandage Company Henry V and the amazing Clarance Darrow at the Old Vic.

But the lure of Richard Armitage and a stellar cast in The Crucible
 drew us back to the Old Vic.

It was spellbinding.
Smoke and burning herbs greated us as we entered the theatre - with the round arangement it was being like on the edge of a witches cauldren
{but of course the witches aren't real}

As the play started, with a groaning, droning soundtrack, and the most wonderful, ritualistic movement setting the first scene the tension built and built.

The whole cast was brilliant - from the veteran actors, to the young Mary and Abigail in their first professional roles, and the outstanding presence of Mr Armitage.

It was the perfect play for Megs -
{fresh from surviving 5 years of cliques at High School}

Another standing ovation -
so very lucky to experience this!
